Eilean Iarmain Hotel

Absolutely loved our stay here. The staff, especially Matti in reception, was so warm and friendly, and went above and beyond to make our visit a good one. The bar is cozy and is a gathering point for the village community. The rooms and common spaces are comfortable and full of character. And the setting is so lovely. We will be back to enjoy a whiskey by the fire!

The hotel set next to great views over the hill and out to the waterfront. There is a great feeling of history in the building and the decor gives you a feeling of the old times with some amazing pictures on the walls. Amazing breakfast and the atmosphere and staff are very welcoming and friendly. Had a nice big bed and big bathroom and the scenery is amazing driving in and out of the hotel. The hotel is well worth a visit.

Even before we arrived the customer service on the phone from Matti and Colin was excellent. Our stay was from November 28-30 with our Husky. When we arrived much later than anticipated on the Friday evening due to terrible weather and an unexpected detour, Colin gave us a lovely warm welcome and an unexpected room upgrade! Both we and Saoirse our husky were treated like VIPs from that moment on. A welcome pack for our dog included a bed, a water dish, a ball and some treats. The Room was fabulous - comfortable and warm. Dinner both nights (in the bar so we could bring Saoirse) was exceptional as was the service. We had breakfast both mornings on our own in a beautiful lounge looking out over the water and, once again the food and the service was exceptional. This trip was planned as a birthday treat for my wife and to say the Hotel surpassed any and all expectations is an understatement. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a top quality base to explore the Island of Skye. A magical Hotel on a magical Island. If we plan to return Hotel Eilean Iarmain will be the first place we try to book. Thank you.

This is the second time staying here and more than worth the journey from our home in Cornwall! It is the most relaxing hotel within a stunning location! The staff are amazing ,the food delicious,the rooms peaceful clean and cosy if it snows! With wonderful views!

The room exceeded my expectations for a three-star hotel. It was well equipped, with plenty of towels and high-quality toiletries. As a solo traveller, I found both the bed and the room size perfect. During my stay, the staff offered exceptional personal support in moments when I really needed it. When I first arrived, I urgently needed something from a pharmacy and there were no supermarkets nearby. The housekeeper kindly gave me what I needed. On another day, I became hungry during the time between the chefs’ shifts, so no food was available, but a staff member prepared something for me without even charging me. Since I wasn’t prepared for the cold weather, they gave me a hat and even offered me a warm jacket. I checked out on a weekend when no buses were running and taxis were very expensive, yet the receptionist generously offered to drive me to the ferry, which was about 20 minutes away, and this was early in the morning. Overall, the cosy atmosphere makes you feel at home: the interior, the fireplace, and the warm connection among everyone, especially when everyonw gather in the bar at night.

I recommend anyone looking for an absolute exquisite meal to try the ribeye. The meat couldn’t have been cooked at a more perfect medium-rare while having a beautiful charred exterior and retaining amazing flavors and I’m not buttering it up. My wife had the pork loin meal which was just as good. We had the Lobster as an appetizer which was also such a delicacy. 10/10 would recommend and will stop again when we come back

Fautless start to finish. Decor is gorgeous, rooms are sizeable and it's VERY dog-friendly for those booking with their pups (providing beds, treats, bowls etc. all proactively). The staff were super welcoming, personable and charismatic showing genuine interest in you/your plans on Skye. The food was really impressive too specialising in local seafood and venison, and the bar onsite was authentic and lively but not a nuisiance/loud at all (could not hear anything from our room). Even though we stayed on a dreary winters weekend the view was divine and it was well worth the visit/stopover on our way up far north. Can't wait to return!!! One of our best stays yet.

A Review, a Rescue Mission, and a Television Triumph I am a storyteller by trade… and thanks to this hotel, I now have a few more tales to add to the collection. We chose this hotel for one very sensible reason: my wife and stairs are not on speaking terms. When we booked, this was made crystal clear. After a five-hour drive that would test the patience of a saint (or at least a man with a bladder of a 90 year old), we finally arrived, ready to collapse gracefully into our ground-floor dreams. Enter Colin. “Let me take you up to your room,” he said cheerfully. My wife looked at me the way a woman looks when her heart gently slides down to her shoes. I looked at Colin. “We can’t do stairs. It should have written in ink tougher than an Aldi steak when we booked.” To his credit, Colin looked genuinely horrified — the way one does when realising they’ve accidentally cuddled a cactus. Our original room had been in a building now closed, and we’d been reallocated… upward. There were no notes on the system — but Colin immediately sprang into action like a man on a rescue mission. And rescue us he did. Just as we were mentally measuring the car boot for our return trip home, Colin revealed his master plan: an outbuilding suite was opened specially for us. It had been resting quietly for a few days, so it was a tad brisk inside — let’s call it “refreshingly Highland” — but the heating soon teetered into life, and suddenly we were king and queen of our own medieval castle. Then came the line that sealed the legend. “You’re lucky,” Colin said. “It’s one of the few rooms with a TV.” One of the few!? I realised then that had I been placed in a room without a TV, I might have had to rebuild civilisation from scratch using nothing but a teaspoon and a grudge. But fortune smiled upon us — and so did the telly. The food was excellent, the staff helpful and friendly, and although two bar staff appeared to be mid-soap-opera with the locals (who seemed to have enough drama to fill a Netflix series), it was all part of the charm. Sitting quietly with a drink while accidentally learning about half the island’s personal affairs was unexpectedly entertaining. The first night was cold — but in fairness, the place was only just warming up after being closed, and it was a proper cold night. By the second night, everything (including us) had thawed quite nicely. As for the location — absolutely magnificent. We drove the length and breadth of the island and in my opinion this hotel wins the view competition by a country mile and a half. So why five stars? Because things go wrong in life — and in hotels. What matters is how they’re handled. This one was handled with good humour, determination, and Colin’s heroic dedication to making sure nobody slept in their car. The hotel is newly taken over, finding its feet, and if this is the starting line, the future looks very bright indeed. Would we return? Yes. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Would I bring a jumper just in case? Also yes. A grand place. A great stay. And now… a few more stories.
